Findr privacy policy

1. What data we collect

Findr collects what you give us and a small amount of technical data from using the app:

  • Account data: email address, and your name if you sign in with Google or Apple. An account is optional
  • Your marks and catches: the fishing locations you save, catch logs, favourite species and the notes you add
  • Photos: pictures you choose to upload, for example to identify a fish
  • Approximate location: derived from your connection when you first open the app, so we can show the nearest coast. Precise device location is only used if you allow it
  • Purchases: whether you have a subscription (we never see your card details)
  • Device and usage data: a push-notification token, the features you use, and crash and performance reports
2. Location

We do not track your location in the background. Your saved marks are the places you choose to add, and you can change or remove them at any time. On first visit we use the approximate location that our host provides with every web request (city level; we do not read or store your IP address) to open the nearest coast. Your marks and catches are private and are never shared with other users.

3. How we use your data

Your data is used to:

  • Provide fishing predictions for your chosen locations and species
  • Sync your marks, catches and preferences across devices when you are signed in
  • Identify fish from the photos you submit
  • Send notifications and emails you have turned on, such as bite-window alerts and the weekly briefing
  • Manage your subscription
  • Measure how the app is used and fix crashes so we can improve it

We do not sell your data and we do not use it for advertising. Findr shows no ads.

4. Data sharing

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We share data only with the service providers in section 5, which process it on our behalf, and where the law requires it, for example under a court order.

5. Service providers we use

These providers handle data for us. Each has its own privacy policy:

  • Supabase: database, sign-in and file storage, hosted in the EU
  • Vercel: website hosting and basic traffic analytics
  • Google Analytics: usage statistics, such as pages viewed and features used, with device and browser information
  • Sentry: crash and error reports
  • OpenAI: receives a photo only when you ask Findr to identify a fish
  • RevenueCat, Apple and Google: subscriptions and purchases
  • Apple Push Notification service and Firebase Cloud Messaging: delivering notifications
  • Resend and Brevo: sending transactional and briefing emails
  • DeepL: translating interface text
  • Google Maps and Mapbox: map display, search and satellite imagery for the places you view
  • Copernicus, NOAA, Met Norway and Open-Meteo: marine and weather data (requests contain coordinates, not your identity)
6. Data storage and security

Your data is stored with providers that use industry-standard encryption in transit and at rest. Our primary database is hosted in the EU. Some providers above, such as Google, OpenAI and Vercel, may process data outside the EU under standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards. No system is completely secure, so please use a strong password.

7. How long we keep data

We keep your account data, marks and catches until you delete your account. Crash reports and analytics are kept for the period set by each provider. Purchase records are held by Apple, Google and RevenueCat under their own policies, and we may keep minimal records where the law requires it.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

Findr is based in Spain and fully complies with GDPR. You have the right to:

  • Access: see what data we have about you
  • Correct: fix any incorrect information
  • Delete: remove your account and associated data (see section 9)
  • Export: receive your data in a portable format
  • Object: stop us from processing your data
  • Complain: contact your data protection authority (in Spain, the AEPD)

Contact us at hello@fishfindr.eu to exercise any of these rights.

9. Deleting your account

In the app, go to Settings, then Delete account, and type DELETE to confirm. If you cannot sign in, email hello@fishfindr.eu from the address you signed up with and we will delete it within one month.

  • Deleted: your marks, catch logs and photo links, favourites, preferences, notification settings, push tokens and Findr subscription records
  • Your sign-in is shared with other Daisy apps (Go Daisy, Rise Daisy, Grow Daisy and Fly Cast). If you use any of them, we delete your Findr data but keep the sign-in so those apps keep working; if you use none, the sign-in is deleted too
  • Not deleted by us: purchase records kept by Apple, Google and RevenueCat, and anonymous aggregate statistics
  • A Stripe subscription must be cancelled before deleting. Apple and Google subscriptions are cancelled in your store account, because deleting your Findr account does not stop billing
10. Children's privacy

Findr is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe we've collected data from a child, please contact us and we will delete it.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy occasionally. Significant changes will be communicated via the app or email. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
